Michael's latest CD project “Reloaded” is a collaboration of the best songs chosen from his previous CDs plus an added addition of two new arrangements of Curtis Mayfield classic version of “Gypsy Woman” .The fans of Michael Ross will be delighted to see and hear that he is back in the mix and the newcomers will wonder why they haven’t heard of him before.
Michael was nominated by Chicago Music Awards organization for the Best Jazz Contemporary CD "2004" for his song entitled "The Boss" taken from the album "Bright Moments Ahead" Michael Ross completes his package with his new video entitled "The Boss" produced by radio personality Mel Devonne.
Michael Ross, renowned guitarist and vocalist has composed and produced three solo albums on MIHI Records entitled "Bright Moments Ahead" "The Last Love Letter", and "We Finally Meet" These contemporary Jazz CDs displays a smooth, sensuous and exciting touch of artistry that you must hear!
Michael is no stranger to the smooth jazz society. His CD "The Last Love Letter" made the charts in the R&R magazine and Gavin. He was also interviewed in the BET reviews.
Michael Ross have also shared a smooth jazz sampler CD with artist like Al Jarreau, Oleta Adams, Dave Koz, Boney James and Fourplay and other smooth jazz artist for radio station KJZY 93.7.
A native of Chicago, Illinois. Michael was encouraged at an early age to take private guitar lessons at the Chicago School of Music. While advancing his studies in music, Michael has played some of Chicago's local jazz clubs. His first big break was becoming a staff guitarist for the New York Broadway National Touring Company's production of "The Wiz," that toured across the country.
Michael Ross returned to Chicago and became the staff guitarist with the Schubert Theatre. There he showcased his musical talent for such Broadway shows as "Dream Girls," "They're Playing Our Song", "Evita", and again "The Wiz".
Michael Ross was called to perform in the Marion Caffey Production,
"Cookin' at the Cookery," which was performed at the Northlight Theatre.
Michael's style and artistry have enabled him to perform with a number of great artists such as, Ramsey Lewis, Hank Crawford, Najee, Jimmy McGriff, Angela Bofill and Jonthan Butler.
Michael have shared the stage with, Norman Connors, Jean Carne, Michael Henderson, Keith Washington, Lonnie Liston Smith, Bobbie Humphrey and opening act for Chaka Khan and Patti LaBelle.
Michael Ross' CD "The Last Love Letter", touches you the way a real musician can. Sounds and emotions are the keys to his latest musical project. Each song possesses its' own special texture and expressions of his fine technique and artistry. Michael always treats you with a vocal number or two, and yes he sings as well. Michael's debut album "We Finally Meet" received excellent air play on some of the prominent NAC adult contemporary radio stations. This first CD, "We Finally Meet", can also be heard in parts of Japan.
